KNOWN ISSUE in macOS 10.12 Sierra: invalid installation or file system error message
Some games activated using a Feral Product Key will not launch on macOS 10.12 Sierra. When attempting to launch the game, you will see an error message explaining that an invalid installation was detected or that there is a file system error.
The error message will look similar to one of the below:
The games affected are:
- Battlestations: Midway
- Brothers in Arms: Double Time
- DiRT 2
- LEGO Batman
- LEGO Indiana Jones 2: The Adventure Continues
- LEGO Star Wars: The Complete Saga
- Mini Ninjas
- Sid Meier’s Pirates!
- The Movies: Superstar Edition
We are working to resolve the issue as quickly as possible.
In the meantime, you can launch the games by following the steps below:
Once the game has been installed, open Finder.
Open the Applications folder.
Open the Sid Meier's Pirates! folder.
In the folder, there will be two files: one is the Sid Meier's Pirates! application icon, and the other is the Data folder. While holding down the Command (⌘) key, drag the Sid Meier's Pirates! application icon to the desktop.
Once the application icon is on the desktop, double-click on it.
The pre-game Options window will appear. Click on the Play button.
A dialog box will appear warning you that there is an invalid installation or file system error. Select OK to dismiss the message.
Drag the Sid Meier's Pirates! application icon back into the Sid Meier's Pirates! folder in the Applications folder.
You should now be able to launch the game normally by double-clicking on the Sid Meier's Pirates! application icon.
