How do I play a multiplayer game of BioShock 2 on Steam?

How you play a multiplayer game depends on whether you want to play a public or private match.

Public match: You choose which game type you want to play and the game automatically matches you with other players. Anyone can join the game.

Private match: You set up a custom match, choosing the game type and map you want to play. Only players that you invite can join the game.

To play a public match:

1. If it is not already running, launch the Steam application.

2. Select the Library tab.

3. In the library, highlight BioShock 2 in the list of games on the left-hand side of the window, then select Play.

4. The BioShock 2 pre-game Options window will appear. Select BioShock 2 Multiplayer.

5. Click on the Play button. The game will launch.

6. The Main Menu will appear. Select Player Lobby.

7. The Lobby screen will appear. To choose your character and equipment for the match, select Customization.

8. Once you're happy with your settings, select Find a Match.

9. A menu will appear allowing you to choose a game type. Choose the type of game you want to play.

10. You will be automatically placed in a match if one is available.

To play a private match:

1. If it is not already running, launch the Steam application.

2. Select the Library tab.

3. In the library, highlight BioShock 2 in the list of games on the left-hand side of the window, then select Play.

4. The BioShock 2 pre-game Options window will appear. Select BioShock 2 Multiplayer.

5. Click on the Play button. The game will launch.

6. The Main Menu will appear. Select Player Lobby.

7. The Lobby screen will appear. To choose your character and equipment for the match, select Customization.

8. Once you're happy with your settings, select Private Match.

9. The match screen will appear. From this screen, you can customize your match options, including selecting a game type and map.

10. To invite friends from your Steam friends' list to the game, select Invite Friends. Otherwise, proceed to step 12.

11. The Choose Friends to Invite dialog will appear. Click the Invite button next to the name(s) of the friend(s) you wish to invite, then select Return to Game.

12. When you're happy with your settings and the other players have joined the game, select Start Match. The match will begin after 15 seconds.
