What are the "Low Detail Models" listed in the Sonic & SEGA All-Stars Racing video options?
The Low Detail Models drop-down menu in the video settings (found in Sonic & SEGA All-Stars Racing's pre-game Options window under the Video tab) gives you the option to run Sonic & SEGA All-Stars Racing using low detail models under certain conditions.
Running the game using low detail models means that the objects on screen are drawn using simpler graphics, which reduces the demand on your Mac's processor(s); this means that the game is able to run faster.
Using low detail models makes the largest difference to performance during multiplayer split-screen matches because split-screen matches are more demanding on your processor than either single-player or online/LAN multiplayer matches.
The options for enabling low detail models are as follows:
- Always: This means that the game will always use low detail models
- 2-Player Split Screen: The game will only use low detail models if two or more players are playing the game in split-screen mode.
- 3-Player Split Screen: The game will only use low detail models if three or more players are playing the game in split-screen mode.
- 4-Player Split Screen: The game will only use low detail models if four players are playing the game in split-screen mode.
- Never: The game will never use low detail models.
