Important Health Warning About Playing Video Games

Photosensitive Seizures

A very small percentage of people may experience a seizure when exposed to certain visual images, including flashing lights or patterns that may appear in video games. Even people who have no history of seizures or epilepsy may have an undiagnosed condition that can cause these “photosensitive epileptic seizures” while watching video games.

These seizures may have a variety of symptoms, including lightheadedness, altered vision, eye or face twitching, jerking or shaking of arms or legs, disorientation, confusion, or momentary loss of awareness. Seizures may also cause loss of consciousness or convulsions that can lead to injury from falling down or striking nearby objects.

Immediately stop playing and consult a doctor if you experience any of these symptoms. Parents should watch for or ask their children about the above symptoms—children and teenagers are more likely than adults to experience these seizures. The risk of photosensitive epileptic seizures may be reduced by taking the following precautions: Sit farther from the screen; use a smaller screen; play in a well-lit room; and do not play when you are drowsy or fatigued. If you or any of your relatives have a history of seizures or epilepsy, consult a doctor before playing.

Precautions to take during use

  • Sit a good distance away from the monitor.
  • Avoid playing if you are tired or have not had much sleep.
  • Make sure that the room in which you are playing is well lit.
  • Rest for at least 10 to 15 minutes per hour while playing a video game.

Planets & Portals

In The LEGO Movie 2 Videogame, you will travel to planets all across the Systar System to rescue your friends.

Each planet has a portal linking it to the rest of the Systar System. To unlock the portal and travel to the next planet, you need to complete quests and collect enough Master Pieces. Your Master Piece Target for the current planet is displayed in the top-left corner of the screen.

Quests

There are quest givers dotted around each planet, waiting for you to come to their aid. Story quest givers have a gold star floating above them. Follow the gold arrow on screen to reach your next story quest.

Side quest givers are indicated by a grey question mark floating above them. Side quests are not essential to progressing the story, and can be completed at any time.

To start a quest, simply approach a quest giver and press the E key to talk to them. You receive a Master Piece for each quest you complete.

6

Inventory

As you progress through the game, you’ll acquire tools such as Unikitty’s magic wand and Batman's grappling hook. These tools are accessed through your inventory at the bottom of the screen; use your mouse’s scroll wheel to cycle through them. Instructions on how to use each item will appear in the bottom-right corner of the screen.

Builder Page

As a Master Builder, your most powerful tool is the Builder Page. Use it to build objects to help you solve puzzles, defeat enemies or access new areas.

With the Builder Page selected, enter Build Mode by pressing the E key. The inventory at the bottom of the screen will be replaced with your Build Library, containing all the different objects you can build. Cycle through the Build Library using the scroll wheel.

You need a certain number of different coloured bricks in order to build an object. The different colours and how many of each you need are shown above the currently selected object. If you need more, destroy different objects on the planet to collect more bricks.

With an object selected move the cursor to where you want to place the object, then press the F key to build. If the object is highlighted in red, either you can't build at that location, or you need more bricks.

7

Characters and Customisation

You can change characters or customise your current character via the Characters window.

To open the Characters window press Tab. To change to a different character, left-click on them.

To customise your current character open the Characters window, then left-click on the Customiser tab. Select which part of your character you wish to customise (e.g. Hats, Hair, Legs etc.), then equip new parts by left-clicking.

Build Attacks

Build Attacks are mighty attacks that can take down multiple enemies at once. As you mount an attack the circular Build Attack meter fills around your character. Once full, hold down the F key, then press other keys in the order they appear on-screen to unleash a Build Attack.

8

Collectibles

LEGO Studs

LEGO studs are scattered throughout each planet for the taking, but may also be earned by smashing destructible objects. Each planet has a shop where you can use your LEGO studs to buy characters, vehicles, brick bundles and other items.

Builder Bricks

You need bricks to build all the different objects on your Builder Page. Collect bricks by smashing objects or buying brick bundles from each planet's shop.

Master Pieces

Master Pieces are used to unlock portals and access new planets. You earn a Master Piece every time you complete a quest. There are also Master Pieces hidden around each planet, and each planet’s shop has a single Master Piece for sale.

Relics

Relics contain special items and rewards, and are to be found in treasure chests dotted around each planet. You may also occasionally earn a Relic when you defeat an enemy or complete a quest. To open Relics and receive the rewards inside, take them to a planet’s shop.

There are five types of Relic:

Item Relics contain weapons and a variety of items just for fun.

Construction Relics contain a variety of building sets and vehicles for your Builder Page.

Character Relics contain new characters.

Super Item Relics contain items that give you unique super abilities.
