A very small percentage of people may experience a seizure when exposed to certain visual images, including flashing lights or patterns that may appear in video games. Even people who have no history of seizures or epilepsy may have an undiagnosed condition that can cause these “photosensitive epileptic seizures” while watching video games.
These seizures may have a variety of symptoms, including lightheadedness, altered vision, eye or face twitching, jerking or shaking of arms or legs, disorientation, confusion, or momentary loss of awareness. Seizures may also cause loss of consciousness or convulsions that can lead to injury from falling down or striking nearby objects.
Immediately stop playing and consult a doctor if you experience any of these symptoms. Parents should watch for or ask their children about the above symptoms—children and teenagers are more likely than adults to experience these seizures. The risk of photosensitive epileptic seizures may be reduced by taking the following precautions: Sit farther from the screen; use a smaller screen; play in a well-lit room; and do not play when you are drowsy or fatigued. If you or any of your relatives have a history of seizures or epilepsy, consult a doctor before playing.

LEGO Marvel's Avengers features characters and storylines from the critically acclaimed film Marvel’s The Avengers and the smash hit sequel Marvel’s Avengers: Age of Ultron, as well as playable content based on additional Marvel Studios blockbusters, including Marvel’s Captain America: The First Avenger, Marvel’s Iron Man 3, Marvel’s Thor: The Dark World and Marvel’s Captain America: The Winter Soldier.
Play and unlock more than 100 new characters that have never appeared in a LEGO game before, including Super Heroes and Super Villains from the Marvel Cinematic Universe, as well as classic Avengers characters featured in Marvel comics.
As part of the Steam™ download process, the game has already been installed on your computer. To start playing the game, read the Getting Started section.
Double-click on the Steam application icon. By default this is located in the Applications folder on your computer’s hard drive.
If you are not already signed in, the Steam Login dialog will appear. Enter your account name and password, then select Login.
The Steam application will launch. Select the Library tab.
In the library, highlight LEGO Marvel’s Avengers in the list of games on the left-hand side of the window, then select Play.
The LEGO Marvel's Avengers pre-game Options window will appear. Click on the Play button. The game will launch.
After the splash screens and videos, the Start screen will appear. Press the Return (↩) key.
The Main Menu will appear. Select New Game.
The Save Game screen will appear. Select an empty slot, then select Yes to confirm.
A message will appear confirming that the game will be saved automatically to this slot. Press the Return (↩) key.
After the opening video, you’ll find the Avengers preparing to raid Strucker’s base, where they hope to recover Loki’s scepter…
You can play LEGO Marvel's Avengers using either a keyboard and mouse or a gamepad. You can customize your keyboard or gamepad controls in the Control Setup menu. You can access this either from the Main Menu via Options → Control Configuration, or from the in-game Pause menu via Options → Control Setup.
The default keyboard controls are detailed below.
The instructions in this manual refer to the default keyboard controls for player 1; if you have customized your controls or are using a gamepad, the controls listed here will not apply.

You can play LEGO Marvel's Avengers using a gamepad. In fact, we recommend you do!

The first time you play a level, you do so in story mode, and will only have access to a limited cast of characters. Some areas and collectibles will be out of reach in story mode: return to the level in Free Play mode and use different characters to explore new areas.
To replay a level, press the Return (↩) key to access the in-game Pause menu, then select Open Map. Select the Level tab to locate the level you want to replay, then press the J key to select it.
Once you have completed a level in story mode, you can replay it in Free Play mode using any of the characters you have unlocked so far.
You can use different characters to access areas that were previously inaccessible and find collectibles you missed the first time round.
You'll unlock new characters as you play through the game.
Different characters have different abilities. If you find that you can't perform an action or access an area with one character, try switching to another.
Some characters can only be unlocked by collecting character tokens which can be found throughout the game.
To change characters, press the U key to switch to the nearest playable character.
In Free Play mode, hold the U key down to bring up the character grid, which lets you switch to any of your unlocked characters.
Some characters have weapons that you need to aim before firing, such as Hawkeye’s bow.
To aim and fire, hold down the H key to bring up the target reticle. When the reticle appears, use the W/A/S/D keys to position it over your target, then release the H key to throw or fire your weapon.
Some characters, such as Iron Man, can fly. To fly, press J to jump, then press J again to hover.
While hovering, use W/A/S/D to move and J/K to climb and descend.
The white ring shown around your character icon at the top of the screen is your power meter.
The power meter is divided into three segments, and fills up as you attack enemies. You can use power to perform special moves and combo moves.
Special moves are powerful attacks that you can perform during combat.
To execute a special move, at least one segment in your power meter must be full. When it is, move close to the enemy you want to attack. When a yellow symbol appears above them, press the K key to perform the move.
Performing a special move uses up one segment of your power meter.
Two characters can combine their unique abilities to perform a super-powered Avengers Team-Up move.
To execute an Avengers Team-Up move, your power meter must be full. When it is, move close to the character you want to team up with. When a blue symbol appears above them, press the K key to perform the move.
Executing an Avengers Team-Up move uses up all three segments of your power meter.
Scattered throughout the game, you'll find plenty of vehicles that you can drive.
To get into a vehicle, stand next to it and press the U key. To get out, press the U key again.
To accelerate, press the J key, and to brake or reverse, press the K key. To steer, use the A/D keys.
Avengers Assemble! You can team up with a friend to play LEGO Marvel's Avengers in two-player splitscreen mode. How a second player joins the game depends on whether they're using a gamepad or a keyboard.
Before starting the game, make sure the gamepad is connected to your computer. Press any button on the gamepad during play to activate Player 2.
Press the F2 key during play to activate Player 2.
NOTE: If pressing the F2 key has no effect, you may need to change your keyboard's default settings. For instructions on how to do this, please see When I press the Function keys (F1-F19) nothing happens. How do I use the Function keys? in the FAQs.
You’ll find LEGO studs scattered throughout the game. Destroy LEGO objects to reveal even more studs!
If you collect enough studs in a level, you will achieve the status of “True Avenger” and be rewarded with a gold brick.
You’ll earn gold bricks by completing all sorts of challenges as you play the game, including finding enough studs in each level and rescuing Stan Lee!
You’ll find red bricks hidden throughout the game.
Once you’ve found a red brick, you can purchase it using LEGO studs to unlock a helpful gameplay effect. Once purchased, you can activate or deactivate a red brick’s effect from the Extras menu, accessible from the in-game Pause menu.
There are 10 minikits in each level. Locate them all to earn a gold brick.
Rescue Stan to earn gold bricks.
Every effort has been made to make LEGO Marvel's Avengers as compatible with current hardware as possible. However, if you are experiencing problems when running LEGO Marvel's Avengers, please read on.

All the information required can be obtained by opening LEGO Marvel's Avengers and clicking on the Support tab in the LEGO Marvel's Avengers pre-game Options window. In the Support tab, click on the Generate Report button. Once the report is generated it will appear as a file in your ~/Downloads folder (the “~” symbol refers to your home directory). Now click on the Create Email button. Remember to attach the LEGO Marvels Avengers Report.txt file to your email.
In your email, please include a brief description of the problem you have experienced with LEGO Marvel's Avengers.
