This document is intended to help you answer any questions that you may have about Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War III
Yes. You can play online multiplayer games between macOS and Linux.
Cross-platform multiplayer with Windows is not available.
It is recommended, but not required, that you have a stable internet connection while playing Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War III's single-player campaign. You can play through the campaign while offline, but you will not earn Skulls (Dawn Of War III's in-game currency) or experience for your Elite units.
If you are playing Dawn of War III's single-player campaign online and lose your connection, you will still earn Skulls and Elite experience if you are able to reconnect to the internet within 90 seconds. If you lose your connection for longer than 90 seconds, you will not earn Skulls or Experience for the duration of your time offline.
Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War III has been fully tested on Ubuntu 16.04 and 16.10. For the best gameplay experience, we recommend you use one of these distros.
The game should also work on other recent versions of Ubuntu, and may also work on other Linux distros; however, as the game has not been tested on these, it is possible that you will encounter performance and gameplay issues, and we do not currently offer support for other versions or distros.
If your CPU frequency scaling governor is set to "Power Save" mode, you may experience performance issues in Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War III. When playing games, we recommend that you set your CPU frequency scaling governor to "High Performance" mode:
echo performance | sudo tee /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu*/cpufreq/scaling_governor
. Press the Return key.If you wish to change your settings back to "Power Save" mode, simply follow the instructions above and enter the following line of code: echo powersave | sudo tee /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu*/cpufreq/scaling_governor
.
Yes, achievements are supported by Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War III.
If you are signed in to Steam, your achievements will be visible to you in-game and also to other players through the Steam application.
Switching between a virtual terminal (by pressing Ctrl + Alt + F1-F6) and the X server (by pressing Ctrl + Alt + F7) while the game is running may cause the game to crash or the graphics to render incorrectly.
The problem will be fixed the next time you launch the game.
We do not recommend switching to a virtual terminal while running the game, as the problem is likely to occur each time you do so.
