1. Installation

   As part of the Steam download process, the game has already been installed on your computer. To start playing the game, read the Getting Started section.

2. Getting Started

   1. If it is not already running, launch the Steam application.

   2. Select Library.

   3. In the library, select Total War: WARHAMMER II, then select Play.

   4. The Total War: WARHAMMER II pre-game Options window will appear. Click on the Play button. The game will launch.

   5. After the loading screens, the Main Menu will appear. Select Campaigns.

   6. Select New Campaign.

   7. The Select Campaign screen will appear. Select the campaign you wish to play, then select Continue. If this is your first time playing, we recommend you select The Eye of the Vortex campaign. If you want to play the Mortal Empires campaign, you will also need to own Total War: WARHAMMER.

   8. The Select Lord screen will appear. If this is your first time playing, we recommend you select Tyrion of the High Elves and tick the Enable campaign introduction checkbox.

   9. Select Start Campaign.

   10. After the opening video, your chosen lord and faction will soon meet its sworn enemies in battle. Heed your advisor well and lead your forces to victory!

3. Total War: WARHAMMER II Performance Tips

   The most important factors in determining how smoothly Total War: WARHAMMER II plays are your CPU speed, the amount of built-in RAM, the type of graphics card in your computer and the in-game settings you select.

   Total War: WARHAMMER II is playable with the minimum specifications listed below, but it will play more smoothly on faster computers with more RAM. However, if you are dissatisfied with the performance of the game on your computer, there are a couple of things you can do that are likely to improve performance:

   • Close all other applications: You are strongly encouraged to quit all other applications before launching Total War: WARHAMMER II – other applications drain resources and slow the overall system performance.
   • Clear disk space: Ensure that your main hard disk has plenty of spare disk space.
   • If you have a second monitor, disconnect it (having an additional monitor connected to your computer may create a drop in performance).
   • If you are using a laptop, plug in your charger (running on battery power may create a drop in performance).

   
   In addition to these general actions, there are numerous specific in-game settings you can select to speed up the game. These are listed below in order of performance improvement (largest improvement first). Move down the list adjusting settings until you find an acceptable balance between performance and graphics.

   NOTE: All of these settings are found in either Total War: WARHAMMER II's pre-game Options window under the Display tab or within the game under Options → Graphics and Options → Graphics → Advanced, accessible from the Main Menu.

4. Uninstalling

   To uninstall Total War: WARHAMMER II, follow these steps:

   1. If it is not already running, launch the Steam application.

   2. Select the Library tab.

   3. In the library, right-click on Total War: WARHAMMER II in the list of games on the left-hand side of the window, then select Uninstall....

   4. A dialog will appear confirming that you wish to delete all the game content. Select Delete.

   
   You may also wish to remove the Total War: WARHAMMER II preferences, which are stored in the feral-interactive folder in your computer's ~/.local/share folder (where the "~" symbol refers to your home directory). Deleting the preferences folder will remove the save files, so all game progress will be lost.

   NOTE: By default, the .local folder is hidden from Files. Press Control (ctrl) + H to reveal hidden folders.

   NOTE: If you have more than one game from Feral installed, remember to check inside the folder so that you do not delete preferences for other Feral games.

   NOTES:

   • Nvidia graphics cards require driver version 396.54 (tested)

6. Technical Support

   Every effort has been made to make Total War: WARHAMMER II as compatible with current hardware as possible. However, if you are experiencing problems when running Total War: WARHAMMER II, please read on.

   If the FAQs and/or updates do not solve your problem, then please feel free to contact us. The following information must be obtained before contacting Feral Technical Support:

   • A Total War WARHAMMER II Report.html file
   • Any crash dump files that are produced (if the game is crashing)

   All the information required can be obtained by opening Total War: WARHAMMER II and clicking on the Support tab in the Total War: WARHAMMER II pre-game Options window:

   • Total War WARHAMMER II Report.html files: In the Support tab, click on the Generate Report button. Once the report is generated it will appear as a file in your ~/Downloads folder (the “~” symbol refers to your home directory).
   • Crash dump files: In the Support tab, click on the Open Preferences Folder button. All crash dump files are stored here.

   Now click on the Create Email button. Remember to attach the Total War WARHAMMER II Report.html and crash dump files to your email. In your email, please include a brief description of the problem you have experienced with Total War: WARHAMMER II.
