This document is intended to help you answer any questions that you may have about Tomb Raider
All available DLC for Tomb Raider can be purchased from the Steam Store via this link:
You can choose between purchasing individual pieces of DLC and purchasing them all in a single bundle pack, the Tomb Raider DLC Collection.
To purchase your chosen DLC, follow the on-screen instructions.
Once purchased, DLC will automatically be enabled in your copy of Tomb Raider.
Yes, achievements are supported by Tomb Raider.
If you are signed in to Steam, your achievements will be visible to you in-game and also to other players through the Steam application.
Yes. The gamepads in the following list have been tested and are supported by Tomb Raider:
Other gamepads may work, but have not been tested and as such are not officially supported. If you have an unlisted gamepad that does not work with Tomb Raider, email padsupport@feralinteractive.com with information about your device and our support team will try to help you.
Some gamepads support both DirectInput and XInput modes. These gamepads can be identified by a switch on them that has two options, “D” (DirectInput) and “X” (XInput).
To play Tomb Raider a gamepad must be supported and set to XInput mode.
Currently supported devices that have this switch are:
If your gamepad has the switch and is not on this list, you will not be able to use it to play Tomb Raider without a pad support file. To obtain one, email padsupport@feralinteractive.com and our support team will reply to you with a request for information about your device. Once we have this information, we can usually create a gamepad support file and email it to you.
To switch the gamepad to XInput mode, follow these instructions:
If the Tomb Raider application is running, close it.
Unplug the gamepad (or wireless receiver, if the gamepad is wireless).
Turn the switch on the pad to “X”.
Plug the pad or wireless receiver back in.
Restart the Tomb Raider application.
You will now be able to play Tomb Raider with the gamepad.
The benchmark test helps you determine Tomb Raider's performance on your Mac under the game's current graphics settings.
To start the benchmark test, select Start Benchmark from the Main Menu.
Once the test has finished, a dialog will appear displaying the minimum, maximum and average FPS (frames per second) that the game ran at during the test. The higher the FPS, the better the game's performance.
To end the benchmark test and return to the Main Menu, select OK.
To increase the FPS, adjust your graphical options via the Display tab in the pre-game Options window or via the Graphics menu within the game (Main Menu → Options → Graphics).
Lowering the graphics settings is likely to increase the FPS at which the game runs, but reduce the visual quality. Use the settings to find a balance between performance and appearance.
To learn more about improving Tomb Raider's performance, please refer to the Performance Tips point in the ReadMe.
Tomb Raider will occasionally help you by displaying a prompt showing the key or button you need to press in order to perform a useful action and progress in the game. This is known as a "button hint".
You can turn button hints off if you are playing using the keyboard. If you are using a gamepad, button hints will always be shown.
To turn off button hints, follow the steps below:
From the Main Menu, select Options.
Select Gameplay.
Select Mouse and Keyboard.
Set Show Button Hints to Off.
Buttons hints will no longer be displayed. During some parts of the game, a prompt will still be shown indicating that you should press a button, but the exact button will not be shown.
There are a number of secret tombs to find in Tomb Raider.
To locate secret tombs, look out for arrows and markings on walls, which will direct you towards the location of a tomb. When you get close enough to the entrance, a message will appear on-screen indicating that a secret tomb is nearby, and its location will be added to your map.
Not all of the tombs can be accessed when you first come across them. Some will require equipment that you cannot acquire until later in the game. In order to access all of the tombs, you will need to use fast travel camps to revisit areas that you have already completed and use your new equipment to access locations that were previously inaccessible.
Yes.
However, you must first enable the secondary click function on your mouse or trackpad. This will enable you to perform a right-click by clicking the right-hand side of your mouse or trackpad.
To do this, follow these instructions:
Open System Preferences ( Menu → System Preferences).
Select Mouse or Trackpad (depending on which you are using).
Select the Point & Click tab.
Check the Secondary Click checkbox.
Finger "gestures", which are used by Magic Mice and Trackpads to switch between windows and applications, can disrupt your game if used inadvertently.
To disable them, follow these instructions:
Open System Preferences ( Menu → System Preferences).
Click on Mouse or Trackpad (depending on which you are using).
Select the More Gestures tab.
Uncheck all the checkboxes.
Short Apple keyboards do not have Home (↖), End (↘), Page Up (⇞), Page Down (⇟) or Delete (⌦) keys.
In order to use game commands that are mapped to these keys, you will need to use the Function (fn) key as follows:
Home (↖) = Function (fn) key + Left Arrow (◀) key
End (↘) = Function (fn) key + Right Arrow (▶) key
Page Up (⇞) = Function (fn) key + Up Arrow (▲) key
Page Down (⇟) = Function (fn) key + Down Arrow (▼) key
Delete (⌦) = Function (fn) key + Backspace (←) key
Yes.
If you have a Retina display, you will be able to take advantage of the extra pixels by running Tomb Raider in native resolution. This means that the game will display one pixel for every pixel on your display.
To do this, follow these instructions:
From the Tomb Raider pre-game Options window, select the Display tab.
Select the largest resolution from the Resolution drop-down menu to play the game in native Retina resolution.
Click the Play button. The game will start in native Retina resolution.
NOTE: In many cases, increasing your game's resolution will impact upon its performance.
Your saved games are stored in your game's preferences folder.
To open this folder, click the Open Preferences Folder button in the Support tab of the pre-game Options window.
By default, macOS uses the F keys to control items such as volume and brightness. To use an F key for a game command hold down the fn key, then press the F key you wish to use.
To automatically enable the F keys, follow these steps (depending on the version of macOS you are running):
Open System Settings ( Menu → System Settings).
Click on Keyboard.
Select the Keyboard Shortcuts button (macOS Ventura).
Click on Function Keys (macOS Ventura).
Turn on Use F1, F2, etc. keys as standard function keys.
The F keys will now work without using the fn key.
Yes.
To run Tomb Raider in windowed mode, follow these instructions:
From the Tomb Raider pre-game Options window, select the Display tab.
Check the Run in a window checkbox.
Click the Play button. The game will start in windowed mode.
NOTE: Enabling windowed mode may decrease the game's performance.
To take screenshots while playing Tomb Raider you should use the following key command:
Command (⌘) + Control (ctrl) + P
When you press all three keys at once, a single image of the on-screen contents will be saved in the Feral Interactive folder in your computer's ~/Pictures folder (the "~" symbol refers to your home directory).
The JPEG image contains metadata in a string in the following format.
GameName/Version Number (OS Version; CPU Speed; Installed RAM; Video RAM; Current Graphics Card)
For example in Tomb Raider the string might look a little like this:
Tomb Raider/1.2 (Mac OS 10.14; 2.8; 4.0 512; Radeon HD4870)
This information can be easily removed by exporting the screenshot into a different format using Preview or another image editing tool.
NOTE: None of the metadata stored can be used to identify the user.
There are several factors which have an impact on the speed at which Tomb Raider runs. Please see the Tomb Raider Performance Tips section in the ReadMe for ways to increase the speed at which the game runs on your computer.
Please read the technical support information in the ReadMe; this tells you what to check and if necessary, how to contact Feral Technical Support with your issue.
