As part of the Steam download process, the game has already been installed on your computer. To start playing the game, read the Getting Started section.
Double-click on the Steam application icon. By default this is located in the Applications folder on your computer's hard drive.
If you are not already signed in, the Steam Login dialog will appear. Enter your account name and password, then select Login.
The Steam application will launch. Select the Library tab.
In the library, highlight Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor in the list of games on the left-hand side of the window, then select Play.
The Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor pre-game Options window will appear. Click on the Play button. The game will launch.
After the loading screens, a screen will appear asking you to adjust the game's gamma level. Use the Left and Right arrow keys to adjust the gamma to your preference, then press the Space bar.
The Main Menu will appear. Select Play.
The Select Game Mode screen will appear. Select Story Mode.
After the opening video, you'll find Talion, a Ranger of Gondor, sparring with his son Dirhael…
The most important factors in determining how smoothly Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor plays are your CPU speed, the amount of built-in RAM, the type of graphics card in your computer and the in-game settings you select.
Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor is playable with the minimum specifications listed below, but it will play more smoothly on faster computers with more RAM. However, if you are dissatisfied with the performance of the game on your computer, there are a couple of things you can do that are likely to improve performance:
In addition to these general Mac actions, there are numerous specific in-game settings you can select to speed up the game. These are listed below in order of performance improvement (largest improvement first). Move down the list adjusting settings until you find an acceptable balance between performance and graphics.
NOTE: All of these settings are found in either Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor's pre-game Options window under the Display tab or within the game under Options → Video and Options → Advanced Options, accessible from the Main Menu.
Feral games come with a pre-game Options window. This window offers Mac-specific extra features, described below.
Extras Tab - iTunes Pausing
Selecting this feature will automatically pause any currently playing song in iTunes while Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor is running. Playback will be resumed when the game is quit or paused.
Extras Tab - iChat or Messages Away Status
Selecting this feature will automatically set your iChat (called "Messages" in OS X 10.8 or later) status to "away" while Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor is running. You can select different "away" messages from the pop-up menu. The "away" options are taken from the user's iChat (or Messages) status listings.
Support Tab - Support - A Helping Hand
If you encounter a problem with Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor, you can use the Support tab to consult Feral's online FAQs. If your problem is not covered by the FAQs, you can contact Feral using the automated game report system. This automatically creates a file with information about your computer that is useful to the Feral Technical Support team in helping to solve the problem.
To uninstall Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor, follow these steps:
Double-click on the Steam application icon. By default this is located in the Applications folder on your computer's hard drive.
If you are not already signed in, the Steam Login dialog will appear. Enter your account name and password, then select Login.
The Steam application will launch. Select the Library tab.
In the library, right-click on Middle-earth™: Shadow of Mordor™ in the list of games on the left-hand side of the window, then select Manage → Uninstall.
A dialog will appear confirming that you wish to delete all the game content. Select Uninstall.

Every effort has been made to make Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor as compatible with current hardware as possible. However, if you are experiencing problems when running Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor, please read on.

All the information required can be obtained by opening Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor and clicking on the Support tab in the Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor pre-game Options window. In the Support tab, click on the Generate Report button. Once the report is generated it will appear as a file in your ~/Downloads folder (the “~” symbol refers to your home directory). Now click on the Create Email button. Remember to attach the Middle Earth Shadow of Mordor Report.txt file to your email.
In your email, please include a brief description of the problem you have experienced with Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor.
