The benchmark test helps you determine Hitman: Absolution's performance on your Mac under the game's current graphics settings.
To start the benchmark test, select Start Benchmark from the Options menu (Main Menu → Options).
Once the test has finished, a dialog will appear displaying the minimum, maximum and average FPS (frames per second) that the game ran at during the test. The higher the FPS, the better the game's performance.
To end the benchmark test and return to the Main Menu, select OK.
To increase the FPS, adjust your graphical options via the Video tab in the pre-game Options window or within the game under Options → Display and Options → Graphics, accessible from the Main Menu.
Lowering the graphics settings is likely to increase the FPS at which the game runs, but reduce the visual quality. Use the settings to find a balance between performance and appearance.
To learn more about improving Hitman: Absolution's performance, please refer to the Performance Tips point in the ReadMe.
Yes.
Hitman: Absolution supports two categories of gamepads: Xbox 360 controllers (which require you to install a software driver) and other supported gamepads, listed below:
If you have an Xbox 360 controller, see How do I use an Xbox 360-compatible controller with Hitman: Absolution? in these FAQs for a link to the software driver.
If your gamepad is not on the list, email padsupport@feralinteractive.com and our support team will reply to you with a request for information about your device. Once we have this information, a gamepad support file will be created and emailed to you.
Once created, this gamepad support file will be used in all future games and updates - so you will not only be helping us get your device working; you will also help all other owners of the same device who play Feral games!
The following Xbox 360-compatible controllers require a software driver in order to work:
A driver can be downloaded here:
https://github.com/360Controller/360Controller/releases
Although these drivers are fully supported by the game, Feral does not offer support with the installation or operation of third-party drivers.
Yes.
The following gamepads will be recognized by the game but do not have enough buttons or analog controls to support all the possible in-game controls, meaning some in-game tasks will require the keyboard or mouse:
Some gamepads support both DirectInput and XInput modes. These gamepads can be identified by a switch on them that has two options, “D” (DirectInput) and “X” (XInput).
To play Hitman: Absolution a gamepad must be supported and set to DirectInput mode.
Currently supported devices that have this switch are:
If your gamepad has the switch and is not on this list, you will not be able to use it to play Hitman: Absolution without a pad support file. To obtain one, email padsupport@feralinteractive.com and our support team will reply to you with a request for information about your device. Once we have this information, we can usually create a gamepad support file and email it to you.
To switch the gamepad to DirectInput mode, follow these instructions:
If the Hitman: Absolution application is running, close it.
Unplug the gamepad (or wireless receiver, if the gamepad is wireless).
Turn the switch on the pad to “D”.
Plug the pad or wireless receiver back in.
Restart the Hitman: Absolution application.
You will now be able to play Hitman: Absolution with the gamepad.

To open this folder, click the Open Preferences Folder button in the Info/About tab of the pre-game Options window.
You can also navigate to the preferences folder manually. It is stored in the Feral Interactive folder in your computer's ~/Library/Application Support folder (where the "~" symbol refers to your home directory).

Open the Finder.
Open the Go menu from the main toolbar.

Click on the Library option. The Library folder will open in your Finder.
By default, macOS uses the F keys to control items such as volume and brightness. To use an F key for a game command hold down the fn key, then press the F key you wish to use.
To automatically enable the F keys, follow these steps (depending on the version of macOS you are running):
Open System Settings ( Menu → System Settings).
Click on Keyboard.
Select the Keyboard Shortcuts button (macOS Ventura).
Click on Function Keys (macOS Ventura).
Turn on Use F1, F2, etc. keys as standard function keys.
The F keys will now work without using the fn key.
No. Hitman: Absolution has been tested with the basic formatting option for Mac OS X, which is HFS+. This system is not case-sensitive and identifies files by name without checking capitalization.
The capitalization of filenames is not consistent throughout the game. While this will not always prevent the game from running on case-sensitive file systems, it may lead to crashes and other unpredictable behaviour.
If you have to run a case-sensitive setup and you experience problems with Hitman: Absolution, please install the game on a standard formatted partition or read/write disk image. In most cases this will allow you to play the game on your machine.
There are several factors which have an impact on the speed at which Hitman: Absolution runs. Please see the Hitman: Absolution Performance Tips section in the ReadMe for ways to increase the speed at which the game runs on your computer.
To take screenshots while playing Hitman: Absolution you should use the following key command:
Command (⌘) + Shift (⇧) + P
When you press all three keys at once, a single image of the on-screen contents will be saved in the Feral Interactive folder in your computer's ~/Pictures folder (the "~" symbol refers to your home directory).
The JPEG image contains metadata in a string in the following format.
GameName/Version Number (OS Version; CPU Speed; Installed RAM; Video RAM; Current Graphics Card)
For example in Hitman: Absolution the string might look a little like this:
Hitman: Absolution/1.0 (macOS 10.15; 3.0; 8.0; 4.0; AMD Radeon R9 M395X)
This information can be easily removed by exporting the screenshot into a different format using Preview or another image editing tool.
NOTE: None of the metadata stored can be used to identify the user.
Please read the technical support information in the ReadMe; this tells you what to check and if necessary, how to contact Feral Technical Support with your issue.
