As part of the Steam download process, the game has already been installed on your computer. To start playing the game, read the Getting Started section.
Double-click on the Steam application icon. By default this is located in the Applications folder on your computer’s hard drive.
If you are not already signed in, the Steam Login dialog will appear. Enter your account name and password, then select Login.
The Steam application will launch. Select the Library tab.
In the library, highlight Company of Heroes 2 in the list of games on the left-hand side of the window, then select Play.
The Company of Heroes 2 pre-game Options window will appear. Click on the Play button. The game will launch.
After the loading screens, the Main Menu will appear. Select Campaign.
The Begin a New Campaign screen will appear, from which you can adjust the difficulty setting. If this is your first time playing, we recommend you select either Easy or Standard. Select a difficulty setting, then click Begin.
After the opening video, a mission briefing will appear. When prompted, press any key to continue.

The game is officially supported on the following Macs. To check your Mac model and when it was released, select About This Mac from the Apple menu on your menu bar.
Please note for your computer to meet the minimum requirements it must match or better all elements of the listed spec. For more detailed specifications check the Feral website.
The following Macs are capable of running the game but do not consistently meet the standards required for official support.

* Multiplayer is compatible between Mac and Linux versions only
* Users of OS X before 10.13 can access a compatible version of the game. Right click the game in Steam Library, then select Properties > Betas > ‘mac-linux-1.2.8'. This is compatible with OS X versions 10.10.3 to 10.12.6.
The most important factors in determining how smoothly Company of Heroes 2 plays are your CPU speed, the amount of built-in RAM, the type of graphics card in your computer and the in-game settings you select.
Company of Heroes 2 is playable with the minimum specifications listed below, but it will play more smoothly on faster computers with more RAM. However, if you are dissatisfied with the performance of the game on your computer, there are a couple of things you can do that are likely to improve performance:
In addition to these general Mac actions, there are numerous specific in-game settings you can select to speed up the game. These are listed below in order of performance improvement (largest improvement first). Move down the list adjusting settings until you find an acceptable balance between performance and graphics.
NOTE: All of these settings are found in either Company of Heroes 2's pre-game Options window under the Display tab or within the game under Menu → Options → Graphics, accessible from the Main Menu.
* The Gameplay Resolution setting changes the resolution of everything except the game’s interface (the HUD). If you wish to adjust the resolution while keeping the on-screen buttons, text and icons sharp and easy to read, you should adjust this setting. Conversely, the Display Resolution affects everything on screen.
Feral games come with a pre-game Options window. This window offers Mac-specific extra features, described below.
Extras Tab - iTunes Pausing
Selecting this feature will automatically pause any currently playing song in iTunes while Company of Heroes 2 is running. Playback will be resumed when the game is quit or paused.
Extras Tab - iChat or Messages Away Status
Selecting this feature will automatically set your iChat (called "Messages" in OS X 10.8 or later) status to "away" while Company of Heroes 2 is running. You can select different "away" messages from the pop-up menu. The "away" options are taken from the user's iChat (or Messages) status listings.
Support Tab - Support - A Helping Hand
If you encounter a problem with Company of Heroes 2, you can use the Support tab to consult Feral's online FAQs. If your problem is not covered by the FAQs, you can contact Feral using the automated game report system. This automatically creates a file with information about your computer that is useful to the Feral Technical Support team in helping to solve the problem.
To uninstall Company of Heroes 2, follow these steps:
Double-click on the Steam application icon. By default this is located in the Applications folder on your computer's hard drive.
If you are not already signed in, the Steam Login dialog will appear. Enter your account name and password, then select Login.
The Steam application will launch. Select the Library tab.
In the library, right-click on Company of Heroes 2 in the list of games on the left-hand side of the window, then select Manage → Uninstall.
A dialog will appear confirming that you wish to delete all the game content. Select Uninstall.
Every effort has been made to make Company of Heroes 2 as compatible with current hardware as possible. However, if you are experiencing problems when running Company of Heroes 2, please read on.

All the information required can be obtained by opening Company of Heroes 2 and clicking on the Support tab in the Company of Heroes 2 pre-game Options window. In the Support tab, click on the Generate Report button. Once the report is generated it will appear as a file in your ~/Downloads folder (the “~” symbol refers to your home directory). Now click on the Create Email button. Remember to attach the Company of Heroes 2 Report.txt file to your email.
In your email, please include a brief description of the problem you have experienced with Company of Heroes 2.
